An exciting opportunity has arisen to support Care and Repair (North-East Wales) deliver its ambitious vision for North-East Wales.

We are looking to build on our success with the recruitment of a new chair and new board members to grow our Board of Trustees

We cover Flintshire and Wrexham and provide advice and practical assistance to disabled, older and vulnerable people with repairs, improvements and adaptations to their homes.

Care and Repair (North-East Wales) also provides and curates Place for You, a 37 acre site that includes the former Corus Steel Social Club at Rowleys Drive, Shotton, the site has football pitches, rooms and spaces to hire as well as the newly created Dee Park Community Woodland.

Current Chair – Henry Terefenko

‘It has been a privilege to serve as chair in such a positive, values led organisation.  I was appointed Chair in 2021 in the middle of the Covid pandemic and am proud of how the team at Care and Repair remained at the forefront of service delivery keeping people safe, warm and secure in their own homes fit for their needs despite all the challenges covid presented.

The Welsh Government recognised our valuable contribution and we were fortunate to receive an uplift to our core, capital and revenue grants.

I am particularly delighted to announce the expansion of our social enterprise practical service team and for achieving safe contractor status accreditation.

Alongside this, we have also completed the first stage of Dee Park working with schools and the community to landscape and plant 3,500 young trees and 500 metres of hedgerow to create Wales’ newest woodland.

There are exciting opportunities ahead for the growth of Care and Repair, the redevelopment of the former Corus Sports and Social Club, now called Place for You, and the further development of Dee Park Phase 2.

As I now pass on the baton for the next phase, it is important that we further strengthen our board team to take on the growing demand for Care and Repair services and our renewed vision.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the next chapter of Care and Repair (North-East Wales) and the destination of Place for You and Dee Park’.

‘We are particularly interested in building our board of trustees with individuals that possess strong leadership and strategic skills, digital technologies skills, Marketing and Communications, Quality and Impact, Business Growth (ideally with experience of Social Enterprise), Health, Social Care or Housing Senior Management Experience’.

Our vision of a health and wellbeing hub will link sports, housing, health and social care together as well as create a dynamic space that meets the environmental challenges for our communities and the growing visitor economy in Flintshire.
