Reasons to visit
Deepark Community Woodland
Care and Repair North East Wales moved to the site of the former Shotton Steelworks Sports and Social Club in 2018. The 37-acre site, located alongside the Dee Estuary and the Wales Coast Path and cycle route, links the town of Shotton with the coast. We are transforming this space—including sports fields, Dee Park, and adjoining woodland—into a vibrant community hub for Deeside that we call “A Place For You.”
Dee Park had suffered years of neglect, becoming a site of concern due to drug-related debris and litter, which discouraged wider community use.
A Place Transformed
Since October 2021, funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Welsh Government has allowed us to create a thriving Community Woodland within Dee Park. With the support of local residents, we have planted over 5500 trees, cleared drug- related debris, opened up site lines, cut back rank grass and thistles and laid a fully accessible surfaced path.
These improvements have transformed Dee Park into a safe, welcoming, and accessible green space just a short walk from Shotton, providing a natural haven for the local community and wildlife to enjoy.
Sports & Community Groups
Place for You is a vibrant hub for the local community, bringing people of all ages together through sport and shared activities. Our football teams and archery club regularly use our sports pitches, and on weekends, we can host up to 500 people enjoying games, training, and the beautiful outdoor spaces.
But it’s not just about sports. We actively work with local community groups, offering our facilities for wellbeing events, outdoor activities, and other community initiatives. Whether you’re here to play, learn, or connect, Place for You is a place for everyone.
